Festival de la Luz in Costa Rica

The Festival de la Luz is one of the most anticipated events for the people of Costa Rica. The event, held in downtown San Jose, includes floats parade, masquerades, live music and fireworks. Because it takes place in December, the Festival de la Luz is associated with holiday celebrations in the Costa Rican capital. Its colorful, creativity and lighting details make it one of the most beautiful attractions in Costa Rica at the end of the year.

For 18 years, the Festival takes over the Paseo Colon and Avenida Segunda, two of the main streets of the capital city to fill them with colors, magical sounds and fantastic characters. The event is attended by a large number of Costa Rican and foreign artists who make their presentations in the bets street style theater. In the list of most popular “top ten things to do in Costa Rica” on December, the Festival de la Luz definitely ranks first.

The best bands of the country together with lightning floats covered with elaborate details are involved in this traditional event organized by the Municipality of San Jose, which each year further enriches the Costa Rica culture.

This year it will be held the XVIII edition of the event, which is seen by more than three million people in the country and receives extensive coverage from local media.
